network architect job description

What is a Computer Network Architect?

A computer network architect is someone who designs and builds data communication networks. These can include local area networks, wide area networks, and intranets, which can range from a small connection to a multinational series of globally distributed communications systems.

Computer network architects need to have an excellent understanding of an organization’s business plan so they can design an appropriate network. They typically work with the organization’s CTO (chief technology officer) to predict where the organization will most need new networks. Demand for computer network architects will increase as firms continue to expand their use of wireless and mobile networks.
